GREEN TALES Project National Conference –

The European Fairy Tale Route Association is pleased to announce that the GREEN TALES Project National Conference will be held in Rome on 11 November 2025, from 11:00 to 13:00. The event will be hosted by Roma Tre University, Department of Education, and it will bepossible to participate both in person and online. EFTR attends the Cultural Routes Forum in Cappadocia

From 22 to 24 October 2025, EFTR President Marina D’amato attended the 14th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, held in the unique landscape of Cappadocia, Türkiye.
The event gathered representatives from certified routes, institutions, and cultural organizations to discuss how heritage and landscapes can be protected through cultural and sustainable tourism.
The President represented the European Fairy Tale Route, highlighting the role of storytelling and imagination in connecting people, places, and heritage across Europe.

EFTR to take part in the Cultural Routes Seminar in Malta

On 29–30 October 2025, the European Fairy Tale Route will participate in the seminar “Malta in the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe”, which will be held in Birgu as part of Malta’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
The event will bring together representatives from several certified Cultural Routes to share experiences and explore new forms of cooperation between Europe and the Mediterranean.
EFTR President Marina D’Amato will present the network’s activities and future projects, highlighting how fairy tales can connect communities and promote cultural dialogue across Europe.

EFTR participates in the conference “Nel nome di Pinocchio”

On October 15, the European Fairy Tale Route will take part in the conference “Nel nome di Pinocchio: la missione della Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi” organized by the Fondazione Carlo Collodi. The event, held at the Conference hall of the Fondazione Carlo Collodi, is organized with the patronage of UNICEF Italy, the European Fairy Tale Route, the European Route of Historic Gardens, and the European Society of Culture (SEC).
The conference will explore the mission and cultural heritage of the Foundation dedicated to Carlo Collodi, the creator of the beloved fairy-tale character Pinocchio.
EFTR is proud to support this initiative celebrating the European fairy-tale heritage.

EFTR at the Sibiu Conference on Cultural Tourism | October 2025

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Marina D’Amato, President of the European Fairy Tale Route (EFTR), participated (October 2nd) in the international conference “Visitor Experiences and Authenticity for Sustainable, Smart and Resilient Cultural Tourism Destinations” organized by the European Cultural Tourism Network in Sibiu.
Her intervention, entitled “European Fairy Tale as Universal Cross-Border”, emphasized the unifying power of fairy tales in promoting cultural sustainability, cross-border cooperation, and the enhancement of authentic visitor experiences.

The Struwwelpeter Museum is hosting a special exhibition dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen.
Visitors are invited to explore Andersen’s legacy through rare exhibits, stories, and artistic interpretations that shed new light on one of the world’s most beloved fairy-tale authors.

The Cambridge Research Network for Fairy-Tale Studies is hosting an online symposium titled “Troubling Wonder”.
Over four days, scholars and enthusiasts of fairy tales and narrative studies will gather in virtual sessions to discuss themes related to wonder, ambiguity, and tensions within fairy tales.

Conference| L’Europe entre géopolitique et identité culturelle

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Marina D’Amato, President of the European Fairy Tale Route (EFTR), will participate in the upcoming international conference “Europe between Geopolitics and Cultural Identity” organized by the Société Européenne de Culture (SEC).

Her talk will be held on June 13, 2025, in Brussels, and will highlight the role of fairy tales in fostering shared heritage and intercultural dialogue.

Call | Beyond the Magic Mirror

The call is now open for the international conference Beyond the Magic Mirror: Imagination, Politics, and Media, organized by the European Fairy Tale Route in collaboration with San Raffaele University Rome.

The conference will take place on October 16, 2025, in hybrid format.
The physical venue will be announced in the coming weeks.

The event will explore the role of mythical and fairy-tale narratives in shaping collective identity and contemporary political imaginaries, with particular attention to the symbolic transformations brought about by media and digital technologies.
